Do you work or volunteer with a sport? This summit just might be for you.
Join us as Sport NL hosts the inaugural SportNL Summit on April 28-29th , partnering with Sport Law and the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) through the Hope on the Horizon Tour. The sessions will focus on equipping sport leaders with the knowledge and skills they need to better manage the complexities of leading an ethically driven and legally sound sport organization. Good governance essentials will also be covered so individuals can learn about key accountabilities and responsibilities of not for profit/ board leaders.

Note: Panel discussion on Friday night is free of charge and Saturday is $25 for sessions that will run 9:00am -3:00pm.

The Labrador Winter Games took place from March 12 - 18, 2023. Every three years, the Labrador Winter Games are hosted in the community of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Each community puts together a team of up to 17 athletes and one coordinator to compete in a series of traditional and modern events important to the lives of Labradorians. In total, some 500 athletes, 600 volunteers, and many more spectators, make the Labrador Winter Games one of the biggest events in all of Labrador.

The NLTTA AGM is scheduled to take place on Saturday Mar 25th at 12noon. The NLTTA AGM will be held during the lunch break during the NL Closed (Paradise Rec Centre). At that time, the current president (Barry Hicks) will present a short summary of the activities during the past year. A financial report will be tabled and we will have an election of the executive and reginal reps. Below is the list of people who are currently on the NLTTA board.

The Table Tennis Competition took place during the first week, February 18- February 25, of the Canada Games with Table Tennis Team NL consisted of four athletes, Divine Aseo, Ciela Libid(two females) and Peter Quinlan, Carter Walters(two males) and they were Coached by Jeremy Lehr and Jenna Connolly was the Manager.

Best of luck to the players and coaches heading to Prince Edward Island as they represent Newfoundland and Labrador at the 2023 Canada Winter Games. The Team NL table tennis squad consists of Coach Jeremy Lehr, Manager Jenna Connolly and players Divine Aseo, Ciela Libid, Peter Quinlan and Carter Walters. The Opening Ceremony takes place on Saturday February 18th and the table tennis competition starts on Sunday February 19 and concludes on February 24. Thanks to everyone who came out for our third qualifying tournament of the year, the CBN Open, which was held on January 28, 2023. Applications are now being accepted for the 2023 Athletic Excellence Fund.
The Athletic Excellence Fund supports local athletes by providing financial assistance to help offset the costs associated with training and competition. Funding is provided to athletes through four different streams – the Premier’s Athletic Awards, the Team Gushue Awards, the Elite Athlete Assistance Program, and the Sport NL Scholarship Program. In order to apply, applicants must be members in good standing of a Provincial Sport Organization. Completed applications must be submitted to an individual’s respective Provincial Sport Organization by Wednesday, February 15, 2023. Applications must be sent to the NLTTA executive via email president@nltta.com. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

The NLTTA season is now into the second half with a couple more tournaments on the schedule and the Atlantic Table Tennis Championships are quickly approaching. This should make for an exciting second half of the season as players vie for valuable points in an effort to make Team NL Table Tennis. To keep up to date with the points race visit the Team NL Selection Points page.
A players best 3 finishes in all their tournaments will count toward the selection to Team NL. All tournaments except the NL Closed will have the same value:
- Regular Tournaments: 1st 20 points . 2nd 18 points. 3rd 16 points, 4th 14 points, 5th-8th 10 points
- NL Closed: 1st 30 points, 2nd 25 points, 3rd 20 points, 4th 18 points, 5th-8th 14 points

The 2023 Canada Winter Games will be held February 18 to March 5 in Prince Edward Island. Table Tennis is an official sport that will take place during the first week of the games. The selection criteria for how we select Team NL that will compete in the 2023 Atlantic Championships, being held in NL this year, is posted online and the document can viewed on our website. If you want to be selected for the NL Team you must play in the qualifier events at tournaments to get points toward the team selection. Qualifying tournaments occur throughout the fall and winter months.
