The 2024 NL Winter Games will be taking place this upcoming February/March in Gander. We are pleased to announce that Table Tennis is one of the participating sports and will be taking place during the second half of the games from Feb. 24 - 27, 2024.
Teams from each of the provincial regions will consist of 2 male and 2 female athletes 17 and Under as of January 1, 2024 and 2 male and 2 female athletes 15 and Under as of January 1, 2024. Table Tennis will consist of Team and Individual events over 3 days of competition. Each region will be led by one coach and one manager (opposite genders from one another). More detailed info on table tennis at the games can be found in the Table Tennis Technical package
At this point in time the NLTTA is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who are interested in being regional coaches. Coaches must be at least 19 years of age by January 1, 2024. Being at least Introduction to Competition trained in Table Tennis through the NCCP Canadian Coaching program would be an asset, but not necessarily mandatory. All team staff must provide a current Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check as well as complete the Safe Sport Training Module and the Rule of Two Module (both of which are offered for free through Sport NL) prior to the start of the Games (these items are mandatory requirements of Sport NL and the NL Games). Coaches would also be responsible for planning and running a qualifying tournament in their region to select team members prior to January 27, 2024.
Any individual who is interested in being a regional coach should contact Kenny Curlew at vp-admin@nltta.com by September 30, 2023. In your email, please include the region you would be interested in coaching and list relevant coaching experience and training that you have. If you have any questions please reach out Kenney Curlew at vp-admin@nltta.com
